Covivio, one of Europe's largest real estate companies, is working with the Schwitzke & Partner planning office to modernise an architectural icon in Düsseldorf. We are providing the visual highlight – a nine-metre-high LED installation.

Media technology in Düsseldorf for an architectural landmark

The iconic high-rise building from the 1970s, formerly the headquarters of WestLB, is now a listed building. It will undergo extensive modernisation starting in 2023. The focus will be on sustainability, new usage concepts and connecting the past and the future. The LED totem fits seamlessly into this concept and brings digital art to life in public spaces.

Cultural enhancement through large-format LED wall

The LED totem, over nine metres high, showcases the digital artwork REI by artist Jobst von Berg in the entrance area of the building – it is also visible from afar and dominates the cityscape. A total of 936 high-brightness LED panels from manufacturer Unilumin are installed, with a total of 3,833,856 pixels covering an area of 58.5 m². This large-format media installation impressively demonstrates how art can enhance architecture culturally, create emotional connections and shape urban spaces.

Large-scale LED displays in public spaces are our area of expertise. We are passionate about using them to create works of art that touch people and enhance the cityscape.
